About the Event

A Hunter Class event out to 700m. Take a stroll along the hill country track and find the 18 shooting stations representing common game and pest animals within NZ.

Its like golf but louder.

Round Count for match Minimum 20 scoring rounds (maximum 60 rounds if you wish to take additional non scoring shots to correct misses and make yourself feel better)

Only the first round at each target is scored

Cost: $90

Meals: BYO

This Challenge will consist of 20 targets arranged around a 3 km hill track.

There will be prone and non-prone shooting. (You will need to provide own shooting aides e.g. shooting sticks/bags). a reasonable level of fitness will be required to complete the course of fire. Each shooter will need to carry own equipment.

there is 4WD access only onto ranges.

The shoot will go on regardless of inclement but not serious weather, please bring appropriate high country clothing.

calibres .338 and below limited to a velocity of 3200ft/sec and absolutely no steel core or other hardened penetrator/projectiles.

Rifle must weigh less than 12 lb including scope and bipod.

no tripods or dedicated rest bags, you may improvise your own on the course.

Competition briefing will be 8 am,

Firearms licence to be presented before shooting is allowed.

Everyone present will be required to sign a release, discharge, indemnity form at the first briefing prior to match commencement. A copy of which, for information purposes, can be found on the website.

Onsite accomodation facilities may be available by appointment, however camping is still permitted even encouraged.

There will be a BBQ and Campfire chat held on the Saturday night after the event.  Please bring your own food and refreshments for the duration of the competition.

Match briefing and start time will be at 0800 at the range. Shooting will start at 0900. BBQ will commence from 1800.

The sunday morning we are holding the King of the Range ELR shoot to 2400m. anyone is welcome to come and watch this event from 0700 Sunday morning.
