This challenging match will consist of 20 targets arranged around a 3 km hill track. The maximum amount of ammunition required for this match will be 20 rounds, no redemption shots, no sighters. The match will be scored on a hit or miss basis, with points weighted by the distance of the target, with only one shot taken at each target. Competitors will receive a direct line-of-sight range to the target (for those that lack range finders), a target description, and a general location of the target for each stage brief. Targets will range between 125m and 700m, and vary in size and appearance, but will generally resemble animals commonly hunted throughout New Zealand. The steel target itself will be the vital area (heart/lung area) of the target animal, hits on non-vital parts of the ‘animal’ will be considered a miss.
